Co57

Mössbauer effect sources:

Cobalt-57 active part is prepared by electrodeposition of high purity carrier-free 57Co onto a thin (thickess 6 µm or less, diameter: 4 - 8 mm) metal matrix followed with controlled annealing process. Standard matrices are rhodium and chromium. Other matrices are available on request.

Active part is placed into titanium alloy holder with brazed beryllium window. Laser welding of titanium alloy holder ensures environmental safety against radiation contamination.

Source holder types are as depicted to the left.  For specific item numbers based on activity level (from 5 to 100 mCi for serial source holder types 1, 5, & 6 and double-sided holder type 8 or 5 to 10 mCi for point source holder type 7) or matrix type please refer to the PDF below or contact us at info@seeco.us

Mössbauer Spectroscopy

Mössbauer Spectroscopy is Resonant Gamma-ray Spectroscopy and is used primarily to study the electronic and chemical properties of materials. The extreme resolution of the Mössbauer transition makes it possible to resolve the hyperfine splittings of the nuclear energy levels caused by the surrounding electrons and provides the link between the chemical state of an atom and its nuclear state.
